
Tom Brady is ditching the pigskin — “for good.”
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback announced his official retirement in a video published on social networks On Wednesday morning, he confirmed that he would not be returning.
“I’m going to get right to the point: I’m going to retire for good,” he told the camera. “I know this process was a pretty big deal last time, so when I woke up this morning, I thought I’d just hit a note and let you know first.”
Brady, 45, joked that athletes only get “one super emotional retirement essay,” which he “used up” last year.
“Guys, thank you so much to each and every one of you for supporting me, my family, my friends, my colleagues, my competitors,” he continued.
“Thank you guys for making my dream come true. I wouldn’t change a thing.”
The athlete announced exactly one year ago, on February 1, 2022, that he will end the sport after 22 seasons.
“It’s hard for me to write this, but here I am, no longer accepting this competitive commitment. I’ve enjoyed my NFL career and now it’s time to focus my time and energy on other things that need attention,” he wrote in a social media post at the time, apparently referring to his marriage to then-wife Gisele Bündchen. his children.
However, just over a month later, Brady came out of retirement and returned to the NFL, saying he belonged “on the field” and not “in the stands.”
It appeared to be the last straw in his marriage to the former Victoria’s Secret angel, as Page 6 reports that in September 2022, the couple are having an epic fight over the decision.
“There were problems in the marriage because of his decision to retire. Gisele has always been with the kids,” the insider shared.
“They had agreed that he would retire to focus on his family, and then he changed his mind.”
About a month later, Brady, 42, and Bündchen confirmed their divorce in separate statements.
“We came to this decision amicably and grateful for the time we spent together,” he continued. “We are blessed with beautiful and wonderful children who remain the center of our world in every way.”
Brady – who shares sons Benjamin, 13, and Vivian, 10 – with the supermodel, has also revealed that he plans to become a parent with son Jack, 15, with ex Bridget Moynahan.
