Last week, Law & Order: SVU fans were very upset Kelly Giddish has officially quit the drama after 12 seasons — and they’re not alone. Mariska Hargitay echoed their sentiment as he became emotional as he bid farewell to his longtime co-star and best friend on Instagram.
In a new photo released ahead of Kelly’s final episode, Mariska shared a sentimental note to honor the duo’s time on the NBC series. He shared how much he enjoyed telling touching stories with her on the small screen. But the lead actress did not shy away from talking about how bitter the moment was.
“Kelly, I love playing, learning, growing, talking, laughing and crying with you,” she wrote on Instagram on Dec. 8. “I’ve loved watching your painfully beautiful performances. I’ve loved watching our friendship grow stronger and deeper.” keep growing and flourishing. I loved every minute of it and I will miss you so much. My respect, gratitude and love forever. xo M.”
Mariska took her grief further by adding the hashtag “#RolliviaForever,” referencing their characters Olivia Benson and Amanda Rollins.

While Mariska’s heartfelt note was enough, she chose to take it a step further. Shortly after Kelly’s last appearance Law and order Universe, who shared a photo of their characters holding each other tightly. She captioned the pictures, “I hold this picture so much. Love you kgid ♥️.”
As people know, Kelly’s character went through a lot of depression. Between helping Olivia deal with her feelings for Stabler (Christopher Meloney), Rollins accepted a position as a professor at the College of Forensic Psychology and ran away with Sonny Carisi (By Peter Scanavino).
Despite Kelly’s unexpected departure, he and Mariska continue to bond outside of the procedural drama. Who knows, maybe we’ll get an update on Rollins’ condition when the show returns on January 5th…
