After TCU’s winless streak, the Big 12 race is crowded. The top two teams in the league will compete in the championship game, and Kansas State, Texas and Baylor sit at 4-2 in conference play. However, K-State lost to Texas last week, so the Wildcats really need to go to Waco and win on Saturday night. Baylor, meanwhile, has quietly recorded a three-game winning streak after a two-game losing streak to open October. The Bears hosted Kansas and Texas Tech before traveling to Norman to beat Oklahoma last week. Kansas State is a step up in competition for Baylor, which won the Big 12 title last year.

While Big 12 title hopes are at play in this game, the stakes are higher for TCU. The Horned Frogs, now 9-0 on the year, moved up to No. 4 in the CFP rankings on Tuesday night. To get to this point, TCU has won some tough games. In fact, six of his nine wins have been decided by 10 points or less. And many of those successes came from hard work. Maybe that high-wire performance explained why the Horned Frogs were seven points behind Austin on Saturday. Texas has been viewed favorably by oddsmakers all season; A visit from Alabama is the only time the Longhorns have been underachieved on the year. But UT hasn’t always lived up to that billing. Texas enters this game with a 6-3 record, although all three of those losses have come by one possession.
